The border of China and North Korea: 2014

This is a collection of diptychs and single images taken along the Yalu River, in and around the city of Dandong, China. A number of the images peer over the border into North Korea. Rusting relics from the Korean War are embedded within the modernity of the urban landscape, while the city itself is torn between a staunch loyalty to its communist ally and the heavy magnetic pull of western capitalism. The photographs in this series attempt to address these tensions, dualities and contradictions.
